my good friend and neighbor on the eastside got a job this summer on the backcountry desk at st mary. he says that the plowing of the sun road could be seriously delayed because of this sequester deal in washington.

Let's just say I had dinner last week with a person in the know and he said the road opening will be one of the few things unaffected.

note for walk-ups ... all the back ranger offices post a list the night before as to what sites are available. You can then try to plan
your trip from that list. Have several options and you'll be likely to get one of them.
