Yes indeed, which is very fitting considering the name of the lake!

This shot of "pie rock" was taken in September 2012 (Jen's was taken October 2009 or 2010, I believe)...we should start an album of "pie rock" photos...(hint) it happens to be located on the trail to one of my favorite places...

The upper photo in Limedes post looks like the Little Matterhorn from the Snyder Lakes basin.

No idea, but I'm wondering if some of you have been to the Park Cafe a little too often. :D

I've never seen "pie rock" -- though, like Jen, I've certainly had my share of pie! -- so I have no idea where it is.

Based on Todd's clue maybe it is en route to Cracker Lake?

As for Pitamakan's concern about excessive trips to the Park Cafe...I agree that particular habit can be a problem. But ONLY because standing in line there can take a serious bite out of one's available hiking hours! My solution has been to bring a special tupperware along on my trips so that I can load up a few pieces of pie "to go" and not need to get back in to St. Mary so much.

Mmm. ::sigh:: There ain't NOTHIN' like opening up your pack high up on a pass and digging into a piece of Kathryn's apple pie while you take in the views... (Unfortunately, the banana cream doesn't travel quite so well...)

Yes. Next time you are headed out to Cracker Lake, look for pie rock and take a photo. We will start a pie rock thread next winter. Maybe joybird can get us a shot of her eating pie on pie rock! My shot of Pie Rock (a la mode) was taken in October 2009 :)

I've seen that rock from the trail to Cracker Lake before you get to their de over the creek.
