I was there! We were in St Mary, where I had worked in 76'. It was truly amazing, the only direction out was North to Canada. All roads were otherwise closed. The most intesting fact was when we drove into Idaho from Canada we came down from BC and drove right into the area of the Ruby Creek standoff. If you don't remeber this event, gloogle it. It is a piece of history.

Ruby Ridge was the name of the event involving Randy Weaver and his family. He used to have a home up here when I live, his place was about a mile and a half from where I have lived for the last 15 years, used to see and talk to him quite often. His daughter still lives in Kila, just west of Kalispell and recently wrote a book about the experience.

Yeah, amazing bit of history. We had pulled off Hwy 95 and were heading to campground when we came upon all the State police and TV film crews. The whole event had just begun. We went furthur on down to Sandpoint that night.
