PeakFinder iPhone App.

Well, what's the best and what's the worst? Let's talk about all those things we carry to make our trips more comfortable...

PeakFinder iPhone App.

Post by mattB »

Well my dreams of getting rich by writing an iPhone App have just been shot to hell!
But these two apps are really cool and I thought some of you all might be interested.

http://peaks.augmented-outdoors.com/

I had an idea for something very similar to the peaks.augmented-outdoors app. I think they both are pre-loaded with a database of peaks, so they don't require an internet connection, so they would work in the backcountry.

I'm not one for carrying a cell-phone in the backcountry, but if it had an app like this I might reconsider!

I just downloaded Peakfinder for my ipod touch.

I think this app sucks as it did not find me any peaks to bag near my home here in northern IL.

Hmmmm, well while I can understand your frustration, I think you may have been expecting a bit more from this app than it's capable of! :-)

I think what you're looking for is something more like the transporter beams on Star Trek. Or maybe the holo-deck on Star Trek the next generation! :-)

Well then, MattB, don't you think maybe you should be working on that instead of this lame non-peak finding Apple app?
