Garmin 60CSx GPS discontinued

Post by Selkie »

I read this on another hiking site; do not have a GPS myself, but the Garmin 60CSx (and 76CSx) has been a hiking standard. It's had a long run - introduced in 2005.
The follow-on 62 series uses a different chipset.

Does anyone have experience with 60 and 62 both?

I have the 60CSx. It "broke" after about 2 years. Probably, a loose contact. But I am unable to repair it myself and it's too expensive to have it repaired by Garmin.

In addition, I like the Oregon much better (because of the higher resolution). The display is less bright but this only matters if you are a mountainbiker (not: hiker).
