Oldman Lake closed again due to bear in campers tent.

When I went in to get my permit on Jul 18th for nights at No Name Lake and Old Man Lake the 19th and 20th I was told the Old Man Lake campsite had just closed again that afternoon due to a bear in someone's tent. (No injuries) A ranger we spoke to said a decision would have to be made whether to close that campground permanently due to continued issues with bears.

I'm sure the bear was just looking for a cozy spot to take a nap.

I saw in the trail status and bc camp status that Oldman is open again. Was kind of surprised after it was closed for a whole season in 2006. Just out of curiousity....anybody know how they decide to reopen?

I believe they have to have two consecutive ranger patrols in the area with no bear sightings before they re-open the trail. Or someting like that.

The camp ground is smack dab in the middle of a huge hucleberry patch and will always have bears around. I'm thinking the NPS should close it permanently.
