Climbs of Salvage Mtn and Church Butte

Post by Ear Mountain »

Three of us enjoyed a four day backpack from Walton in Glacier to climb seldom reached Salvage Mountain and Church Butte. I won't tell the story here but those interested in seeing the action can click on the link to Ear Mountain Photography at the bottom of this post. When you reach the home page go to the ChoteauCam, then click on the link for the Salvage and Church Butte pages. Enjoy.

That's quite OK, Ear M; a picture's worth a thousand words, or in this case a gajillion words! Great stuff; thanks!

Hey, any of you mountain climbers do any yodeling? Bet they could hear you halfway around the park; although it might traumatize the wildlife...

It is a ledge and easy to walk if one is familiar with that sort of thing. Good views too!

Thanks for the info, I think I too am not ready for this type of climb, though I did do my first GMS trek over the weekend. Not Kathy, I hear she is ready after Mt. Canon!

Ear Mountain,

I found your site awhile back. I really enjoy reading of your climbing adventures and viewing the photos. It's nice to see the places were I'm too faint hearted to try.

Thanks for the comments. After the Salvage-Church Butte trip I returned to the park for Mountaineering week (climbed Amphitheater, Singleshot, Yellow and Seward) then headed into the backcountry for a four day trip. I'm only home for a couple of days so might not get new reports up before I leave again but they will come eventually. Stay tuned.
