I had to purchase a pair of Snowshoes so I can get in the front yard to work on getting the snow off the roof, now I just have to learn how to walk in the damn things!

There is over 7 feet of snow here at the house, for those who have been here, it is amazing, I think I will have a get together next week, anyone game????

I've been there and that sounds amazing. Your house is a sort of 'igloo'.

Wow that's a lot of snow! Wouldn't mind seeing some pictures.

Is the park receiving the same amount of snow?

Snowshoes are a piece of cake to walk in. It's pretty much just walking. Would love to see some photos!

The west side of the park, at least, has been getting a lot of snow in just the past few weeks. One of the North Fork sites that I follow had a recent report from a property owner in the valley north of Polebridge who said that they'd gotten 133 inches of snow so far this winter ... a lot compared to recent years.

I hope you also bought, or already have, a roof rake. Don't risk falling off your roof. Use a roof rake!

Have had a roof rake for years Ralph, of course we have so much snow, that falling off the roof right now, would not be much of a fall!

Weather Underground is reporting we have 107 inches of snow, that is a bit more than we have, but not far off.

Sounds like good skiing. Do that right after clearing the roof.

I spent three hours with a friend cleaning a roof in Wisconsin while I was there. The roof had about three feet of snow on it. When we were done the homeowner remarked that the sliding doors between her living room and porch now worked smoothly again. Before the roof was cleaned they were almost impossible to open. Glad her roof didn't cave in. Hope yours doesn't either.

In 2008 we built a new building for our business. Our building inspector forced us to drastically increase the snow load of the roof. Cost us a lot of money, which we weren't happy about. But, in 2010 we got 7' of snow in one snow storm. We figure that we had 1.8 million pounds of snow on the roof. Some of the snow slide off the roof, but soon the snow pile came up to the top of the roof, which was 16' high. Our building didn't collapse, but many buildings around us were collapsing. We will never complain about the high snow load again.

About 2 weeks ago we got close to 4' of snow in two storms. Again houses around us were collapsing.

Snow on the roof is serious stuff. Wise to have that snow rack ready. Good luck and stay safe.
