2007 Trip

Post by Jay w »

Ok, I'm looking through old pictures from our 2007 trip. Let's start off with this one. I'm not sure where is was taken, but it looks like a fine little house.

Image

This would be the Seyeh Pass orange eating contest. JJ is up to two.

Image

What can I say. It's a deadwood and I had a camera.

Image

I have no idea what this is, but I figured a bikini shot was inappropriate for the Glacier page.

Image

I've had a staring contest with this tree for many years. The tree has a streak going, 10-0.

Image

This day was hot as he11. As I remember, it was 105 F in Great Falls.

Old school

Jay, the flowers (the non-bikini shot) are lupine. They grow a lot of places in Glacier but the most profuse displays I have seen are along the Many Glacier road and along the the trail to Appikuni Falls and up on Scenic Point.

Todd,

Yes, I hope to see me and Sep also. Never know with how people text and drive. Actually, I'm still debating rearranging my summer from typical which would open up a Sep trip.

Bill,

Thanks. Lupine. Ok, log it in the memory banks.

Pocket,

Yupper. That's a Wisner (don't know where Ron went) with a quickload in it. Quickloads are now pretty much gone. I've humped that sucker up to Icerberg a couple times, and part way up the scree field. I brought it to Florence Falls (that's the one on the way to Gunsight, right?) and a whole bunch of times up to Appikuni and other shorter hikes. BTW, last I saw, Kodak was down to 65 cents per share. Shame. I'm supposed to get a little retirement out of them. I'm just glad is wasn't a lot of retirement like some folks.

Jay,
Liked your photos, even the tree. My favorite is the Siyeh Pass Orange Eating Contest. It's a beautie way to go.

I hear the New York Stock Exchange is considering removing Kodak from their listings because the price of Kodak stock is so low. Maybe it's time to retire now and spend the rest of your summers hiking in Glacier and the winters cross country ski racing. Man what a life.

Ok, here's one in a 2005 folder taken with that heavy, bulky, slow camera. I believe this is the wastewater pond below Grinnell Glacier (so to speak  ). This is a straight scan. No fancy Photoshop work

There's a lot of talk about Kodak going belly up. I'm thinking about buying some 4x5 film and stockpiling, but the freezer is full of 35mm from from 1990, :D I gotta say the digital is convenient.

I think you need some film for that big camera of yours. The images it produces are fantastic. And they are fun to shoot. So my suggestion would be to make sure you have at least some of the film of your choice ready to go at all times.
