A friend of mine from Choteau suggested we spend the night on the summit of Ear Mountain, the distinctive landmark peak west of Choteau, Montana. The thought of photographing the mountains in late and early light was very intriguing and I readily accepted. We were joined by another friend from Shelby to make it a threesome. I've posted a bunch of photos on my ChoteauCam.
Here are a few of my favorites.
Looking north are the many peaks of the Rocky Mountain Front all arranged like saw teeth.
This view through a 200 mm lens looks all the way to Glacier. The pointy peak on the left is Mount Saint Nicholas. Church Butte, Mount Stimson, Mount Rockwell, Grizzly Mountain and Flinsch Peak are all visible.
The moon rose as the sun set. The setting sun cast a long shadow of Ear Mountain over the plains.
