Chalet situation 30 years ago

Post by llholmes1948 »

An item in the yesterday's column in the Hungry Horse News from 1993, This was apparently during the period when both chalets were closed due to environmental problems:

Dec. 9, 1993

The preferred option to fix up Glacier Park’s backcountry chalets had a price tag of about $4.2 million. The toilet at Sperry Chalet, which never worked entirely as designed, cost $1 million in the end and made national headlines. The chalets were closed to the public at the time due to maintenance and human waste issues.

As backcountry toilets go, they seem pretty sweet today!

I love those historical accounts. Thanks for posting those!
