Frank Lloyd Wright building destroyed in Whitefish

Even though Glacier is the focal point, the Flathead and the surrounding area presents boundless activities, talk about it here.

Frank Lloyd Wright building destroyed in Whitefish

Post by mattB »

Very sad story in Whitefish, one of the few Frank Lloyed Wright designed buildings in Montana was destroyed overnight by a greedy developer who refused to work with the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Foundation, or the Montana Preservation Foundation, and brought in a backhoe and destroyed the building..

"Greedy developer"?
You know that for a "fact" do you Matt? Disparage people based on an article by a group who have an obvious bias?
Has there been a Constitutional Amendment passed repealing "private property rights"?
That would be news to me.
Mick Ruis has the absolute right to sell that property to whomever he wants.
It's a done deal already.
The preservation society people need to get over it; it's gone.

I would suggest this be moved to the political section since it's a very controversial and political topic, but...
This issue has nothing to do with GNP.

pete

PS
I've been in that building a number of times. Sure, it's a FLW building.
But really, as a practical matter not every building on the NHR can be saved "forever".
That's just silly.

It's always sad when historic buildings are torn down or lost to nature, no matter the reasons.
