Y'all are lucky.
We got maybe 2" here in town, then it warmed up and even rained briefly.
Temps are falling. I just walked back from 2nd Street Pizza and everything is freezing up.
It'll be a icy mess in some places in the AM :(
My lil snow blower I keep at the WF joint started on the first crank today.
Bring it on!

We got a little snow in town. The mountains look beautiful. Took this on the way to work this morning. Whitefish Mtn. ski slopes on far left.

Taken this afternoon from Rose Crossing on my way to the park. Columbia Mtn. on the far right. Teakettle under the long low cloud, and a view into the park between. Apgar and Whitefish mountains extending to the left

After being out briefly today and then reading this afternoon's forecast...
I think "Winter" has arrived! 8)

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Missoula MT
334 PM MST Tue Dec 6 2016

...LAKE EFFECT SNOW TONIGHT SOUTH OF FLATHEAD LAKE...
...SIGNIFICANT WINTER STORM COMING STARTING THURSDAY THROUGH
SATURDAY MORNING...

.DISCUSSION...Wind chills will be an impact again tonight, but as
winds subside tomorrow morning those advisories will expire. Along
with wind chills tonight, expect continued problems with spray and
icing from the lake, as significant icing has already been
observed in Polson.

On the south end of Flathead Lake, lake effect snow is a concern
for tonight and tomorrow, and an advisory has been issued to
highlight this potential. Convective clouds were observed via
satellite today on the south end of the lake, but the strong winds
across the lake today prevented it from organizing into a snow
band. As the winds decrease tonight and tomorrow morning, the cold
air will remain over the warm lake and convection will be able to
organize setting up a snow band. Polson is the most likely area
to be affected, and the band may waver back and forth between Big
Arm and Finley point. One to three inches of snow is likely in a
narrow band, maybe as narrow as 2 miles wide south of the lake,
but much more is possible.

A relatively warm, moist air mass will begin moving into the
Northern Rockies on Thursday and interact with cold arctic air
entrenched throughout the region. The result will be a prime
environment for snow production across all elevations. Right now
we`re expecting one to two FEET of snow throughout the higher
terrain of the Clearwater and Bitterroot Mountains along the
Montana/Idaho border, with locally higher amounts quite possible.
Travelers over Lookout, Lolo and Lost Trail Passes should be
prepared for heavy snow.

But potentially more troublesome than these total amounts will be
the intense snowfall rates of 2+ inches per hour possible at
times early Friday morning through Friday evening. Periods of
extremely low visibility along with quickly accumulating snowfall
will make travel very challenging over mountain passes. The lower
valleys throughout the Lower Clark Fork Region, Clearwater &
Idaho County in Idaho should prepare for 6 to 12 inches of
snowfall through Saturday morning. As such we have issued a Winter
Storm Watch to highlight the potential for significant public
impacts. Additional Watches and Advisories are likely to come for
the rest of Western Montana that may include Missoula and
Kalispell. So stay tuned for further details as we continue to
analyze the data!

Thereafter the pattern remains cold and snowy with convective snow
showers/bands possible Saturday afternoon through Sunday.
Additional snowfall accumulations are likely during this time,
but probably more localized. Sunday evening models are showing
increasing consistency towards an additional push of warm, moist
air over not just the cold air in place, but interacting with yet
another arctic push into the Northern Rockies. This next arctic
could be even colder and longer lasting than the present
conditions with very heavy snow developing along the arctic cold
front. So it sure looks like the cold, snowy conditions are here
to stay for at least the next week and quite likely beyond!

We got 3-4 inches of very light powder here in WF Friday night.
I suspect the skiers and boarders on WF mountain will love today and Sunday.
Monday, not so much. The snow will be good but temps and wind will be pretty bad.

Hehehe :)

I don't believe tomorrow will be a good day to go xcountry skiing, or any kind of skiing.
The storage units I look after are just off US2 on the west side of the highway near the airport.
Bad Rock Canyon is almost directly NE of the storage units.
NE winds out of the canyon can drift snow in there pretty bad sometimes :(
