Memorial Trees for Hockey Ref

Post by Heff936 »

Chatter Friends: I think we all know how much Andy loved Glacier and how much he contributed to this chat page. The last communication I had with Andy I assured him that there would be trees planted in his honor through the Glacier National Park Conservancy. Trees cost $ 60 and a certificate will be sent to Andy's family. We will be setting up a fund to collect donations and arrange for the tree plantings. If 10 or more trees are donated, a Park horticulturist will conduct a memorial planting ceremony.

Please PM me if you want to contribute anything toward the Remembrance Trees.

I will definitely contribute. Please look for a PM from me.

I'm a bit unclear about the memorial tree-planting ceremony. Is this something to which Chatters would be invited? Do Chatters convene a separate tree-planting gathering?
Thanks.

What a perfect idea, Heff.

FYI, (Andy's) Jen had asked me to post two charities for memorial donations: the IU Simon Cancer Center, and the Glacier National Park Conservancy.

It's nice to know that what we're doing fits in so well with what the family wanted.

Selkie,
If we can get enough money to purchase a grove of trees (10), then we can choose one of the areas they have for re-foresting. There will be a date of the planting set by the Glacier Park Conservancy. If we don't get enough then the trees will be planted where ever they are needed. NDJason or Dave could explain better. In the past, the chatter have been able to do a grove in memory of Dave's sister and Jason's wife.

Heff and Miss G,

Thanks for arranging for this. I'm sure his family will appreciate the gesture and its a great way to memorialize his love for the park.

I am not the organizer, but it's my impression that many small, shady branches make up a tree.
In other words, contributions of any size welcome -- whatever one is comfortable with. (Yes?)

Well said! Any size donations is welcome. Not takes many branches to make a tree.
