Closures are scheduled for much of the summer at Waterton due to construction projects:

Bummer! :?

Thanks so much for the heads-up, Lyman.

I do hope they keep the shuttle running up the Akamina Parkway…I was planning to do Carthew-Alderson again this year, and maybe even check out the Akamina Ridge trail.

Have any of y'all done Akamina Ridge? What did you think?

Good evening.

Akamina Ridge is a spectacular day hike from Forum Lake up, over and down to Wall Lake. Pick a clear day and you will look down on Kintla, Boulder and much of the northern part of Glacier NP.

With the Cameron Lake road (Akamina Parkway) scheduled to be closed this summer it might be tricky to work out the logistics. I will let you know if I hear anything.

Thank you!

And please do let us know if you hear that the shuttles will (or won't) be running...

Thanks

There will be a free shuttle service along the Akamina Parkway (aka Cameron Lake Road). It is supposed to run from June 16 to Sept 18.

I plan to use it when I hike Carthew-Alderson and Forum Ridge this summer.

Myself and two buddies are flying into Calgary late on Tuesday August 30. Plan on spending night in Calgary and getting up early and driving to waterton. How difficult will it be to get a shuttle to Cameroon lake to do the carthew Alderson hike? How early should we get there for the 10 am shuttle? Has it been filling up quickly?

Thanks
Dan

I would suggest you go to the link in the previous post and make a reservation for the shuttle.

Two weeks ago a friend and I were able to get on the 10:00 am shuttle with no reservation. We arrived at the Tamarack Outdoor Outfitters about 9:55 and got our names on a list. About five parties who had made reservations did not answer when their names were called. At that point we were motioned onto the bus. There were at least two hiker shuttle buses at 10:00 am that morning to handle all the reservations that had been made. The person directing people onto the buses also complained about people who made reservations but did not show up. The hiker shuttle buses are school buses.
