Tupelo Grill-Whitefish MT

Post by PeteE »

My sister and brother-in-law conspired with two of my local friends back in August to give me a surprise 70th birthday dinner at the Tupelo Grille in Whitefish.
Well kept secret since it seems everyone at work and many of the customers knew about it long ago....as I found out today 8)
Dinner was superb imo, as it was the only two other times I have eaten there in the past. Former g/f liked the place.

I should say that Tupelo Grille is not cheap. Dinner for two with an appetizer, and a drink will likely be around $100.
My filet mignon was rare and perfect. I've not had a filet like that in a long time.
It's not a fancy or pretentious place. Nothing memorable about the decor, etc. Casual dress is fine---jeans and a sweatshirt around here.
Just a really good place to eat dinner.

PS
This morning, we ate breakfast at the Buffalo Cafe which is a really good place for breakfast.
Good service and reasonably priced imo.

Tupelo is fantastic. One of my favorites, along with Stillwater Fish House west of town.
Thanks!!

Yep, I'll second the recommendation of the Stillwater Fish House. We ate there last time they were here :)
Plus one of the guys who lives above me is a chef at Stillwater Fish House.

I'm sure you'll like it Tina. We're going back tonight. My brother in law wants to try the "elk meatloaf". Maybe I will too.
Meatloaf is a staple for us "Florida rednecks" hehehe!!

Thanks Ralph! I'm hoping to get up to Essex at some point. I want to snowshoe up the Scalplock trail a ways,
Might get some good pictures!

I have had both the Elk and the Bison meatloaf when they used to offer it and both were very good, I highly recommend. Spendy, but the food makes it a little less painful.

Happy belated birthday Pete

Hi Dave. Thanks! At 70, I'm now an official geezer. 8)
Yeah the meatloaf was good, but as you say, "spendy". I had the meatloaf mostly because my brother in law wanted to try it.
However, I would recommend getting a steak at the Tupelo Grille.

We have been to Tupelo numerous times and have never been disappointed. Great dinner. Great service. All around reliable place to have a nice dinner out. Likewise we frequent Latitude 48 and have had terrific dining experiences there as well. We've been to some of the other restaurants around the valley and have enjoyed most all of them we have visited. Some for what they are and some were unexpected surprises. There are some that we stopped frequenting because it wasn't to our liking. But we don't review negatively on any business even those where we have occassionally had a visit that was not as good as another visit. Everyone can have an "off" day. Generally we have found most of the places around the valley and around the park to be good.
