Babes in the Woods

Post by Glacier Institute »

The Glacier Institute is proud to present a new series, as part of the “More Kids in the Woods” nationwide initiative designed to reconnect families with public lands. Parents and youngsters will explore our beautiful ecosystem with a knowledgeable guide during Babes in the Woods. Each child must be accompanied by an adult and placed inside a backpack/carrier to ensure progress down the trail; big legs do all the walking! We spend our time together taking a nature walk in various locations throughout the park exploring Glacier’s natural history through plants, animals, tracking, fire ecology and other general naturalist topics. Join us for an educational and fun outing to meet other parents and children in the community. Get outdoors and explore as a family!

July 18, July 25, August 15th and August 22nd, 2008
Instructed by the Glacier Institute Staff

We will meet at the trail head on each scheduled day. Location will be determined one week in advance to ensure the best trail conditions in regards to weather, wildflower displays, wildlife sightings and other possible factors such as fire. Please call 406-755-1211 in advance for trail location.

What to Bring?
• Backpack with child!
• Light jackets or rain gear depending on weather
• Hats for sun protection, sun screen, etc.
• Sturdy walking shoes (rain-proof, if possible)
• Full water bottle (one quart per person)
• Trail snacks
• Plastic bag (for packing out trash)
• A sense of Adventure!
