Montana Sapphires

Post by PeteE »

I made this video last weekend on Mothers Day.

It's a bit long at 16 minutes but it's hard to make something like this shorter--for me anyhow 8)
I've loved doing stuff like this since I was a kid, and I still like doing it.
I've never found anything valuable that I know of. I have several stones that are "gem quality" according to the folks at Gem Mountain.
They would need to be fired and then cut.
I'm saving my stones for a rock polisher. Sapphires are 2nd in hardness only to diamonds. They'll polish anything.
Gem Mountain will do a preliminary exam of any stone you find for free.

So if you are visiting Glacier Park and have the time to visit Gem Mountain, you won't regret it.
Gem Mountain is located near Philipsburg MT.
It's very family oriented and friendly. Kids love looking for stones.

PS
The video won't be uploaded until late Friday night. YouTube is slow this time of day.
