Looks like a nice option in Whitefish for lodging and/or food.

My wife (Miss Guinness) and I stayed here for 3 nights on our early February trip. We only planned on one night but Highway 2 closed so that changed our plans. We got a very discounted rate compared with summer rates. It was by far the nicest hotel I've stayed at in Montana. It is very stylish and inviting, the beds are comfortable and the walk in showers are great. The staff was friendly and the lobby bar was very busy. Overall, I'd highly recommend it, except be aware that summer rates are around $ 250 a night.

My sister and brother-in-law are staying at the Firebrand now.
And they do not like it, and won't stay there again.
I agree with Heff that it is a beautiful place. I love the bar/dining area.
We just disagree on The Firebrand as a "value". Nice, but not a good value for the money--if paying normal room rates.

However...it is quite expensive for what you get in my opinion compared to where my sister stayed last time--Pine Lodge https://thepinelodge.com/
Their room is ok but quite small for the money. The queen bed occupies half the room!
The gas fireplace is a useless amenity. It overheats the room if you leave it on. An unneeded "perk".
And the usual expensive bottled crap in the room.
No complimentary breakfast, or even coffee!!

I give The Pine Lodge much higher marks than the Firebrand.
Vic's two room "suite" was much nicer, and had a balcony with a nice view.
Pine Lodge has a nice complimentary serve yourself breakfast as well.
And at the room rates are much cheaper than the Firebrand.

I need to make some corrections and additions, including pictures to my "review" above.

The bed shown is a KING size, not Queen as I said above
The room did have a balcony.

Keep in mind that while some of this may seem "trivial", the rooms at the Firebrand are expensive.
So in OUR opinion this stuff shouldn't happen.

The room keys are the new "scanning" type, not the credit card you drop in a slot---and they are a pain to use.
That and Vickie and Bobby had to have there cards replaced mid stay. The idiot at the desk kept asking stupid questions like, did they check out? extend stay.
It's like it was somehow "their fault".
NO information in the room as to what services the hotel offers--like the room cards/booklets, etc.
Vics body wash pump body wash didn't work and while not a big deal, took 2 days to get the maid(who's English sucked) to replace it.

The room door weighs a TON. The hydraulic door closer is soooo STIFF even I had to really lean on it to open the door.
I can see where people who are old and not too strong will have a hell of a time with that door.
I've hung doors and installed door closers. There is NO NEED for a door closer like that on a hotel door.
A correctly "hung" door, regardless of how heavy it is, does not need a hydraulic closer that "stiff".

The Firebrand is well located in town. Very convenient for travelers without transport and has some nice amenities.
However, for the price one pays for a "small" room, one should not have to put up with these sort of petty annoyances.

FWIW

small room imo for price

Hope you don't want to take a "bath". Shower only.

I'm sure some parents of younger children will be delighted to see a "Couples Kit" offered for just $4.00. I mean really? Condoms?
Hell, I guess I am old

I have heard the Firebrand has rooms about the same size as a typical Motel 6 for a lot more cost, personally I think in all of the "resort" areas the rooms are terrible for the money you pay for them.

We have stayed at the Firebrand on two occassions. Once last Summer and then again in December. We expect to pay a lot more during high season. These places, regardless of their size and quality, have to make money during the high seasons to provide what they provide. It is just the nature of the business in a seasonal area. Both stays were very enjoyable and we really like the hotel. In fact, we have another upcoming stay there. In contrast to how others have reviewed this we found the room to have plenty of space for the two of us, comfortable and of high quality. Of course, that's what we are paying for. I prefer a shower (no tub) as I believe this to be easier than stepping in and out of the tub. But either is fine. We have stayed at the Pine Lodge and have enjoyed it also, and will likely stay there again as well. They really are two different types of hotels. I will say the hot tub on the roof of the Firebrand is great!
