I was really glad that the road was reopened a couple of weeks ago so I took the opportunity to take a bike ride up the road from Avalanche on this nice Friday afternoon. There were a few areas of smoke near Avalanche and Lake McDonald Lodge, but otherwise, no evidence of the fire. I got started around 2pm and the weather was cool and crisp - especially on the way back down from the Loop. But it was a beautiful, quiet ride. While at the Loop, saw a few goats way up on a mountain side and took a few pics toward the pass. Also took a pics of the Heaven's Peak Lookout and Mt. Brown Lookout. To the right of Mt. Brown you can see the burned area, but the Lookout survived.

By the way, I was really surprised at how the area around Mt. Brown didn't look completely burned. There were just random spots where areas had burned. There's still lots of green trees and bright yellow Larch trees. I'm sure the other side of the mountain is where it's burned out. And also there were lots of downed trees in the Apgar area and all along the road from the recent windstorm. (Not including the one in my backyard that smashed my fence).
