Well done Jay. Great images as always. Too many to single out.
I really did like the sort of dark(ish) moody one of Angelwing from the Grinnell Glacier trail.
Also the one with the boat and Mt Gould in the bacground.
And of course, the "dead tree" shots. 8)
I envy your trip report narrative ability. You're the best!

pete

PS
I can't remember why I wasn't able to hook up with you last year. :(
Nice camper! I'm sure you and Julie don't miss the leaky tents and dripping tarps!

I agree with Pete. Nice blog and wonderful photos. The one with the boat really stood out for me too.

Pictures were smaller so made it hard to really enjoy them... at least for me; many of your photos need to be pondered. Unless there is a way to make them bigger; I did increase font to 150%.

Pete, kind words. I do feel the reports have lost their edge because I’m just getting older. I don’t smart mouth Harley riders or run into crazy talk as much as I used to, so the reports don’t have that laugh factor oF old. Also, I used to be able to bust ass starting as sunrise, but not this trip.

Tibber (or Timber as spell correct says)....Thanks, the photos are small (700 pixels) because I’ve had a relative tell me, “Every photo of your’s I download and save.” WTF? Others have said they use them as wallpaper and I’m kind of protective. I probably should load a little bit larger, but I’m not sure it matters in wordpress, and I’ve never tried to download from there. (I assume it’s easy.) There’s some reallly, really nice photos on the photography sites, and they upload large files so I shouldn’t worry about my stuff. If there’s something you’d like to see bigger I can try to load without the blog.

BTW, I’m thinking about going back and uploading all my trip reports to the blog because all my photo links are dead. (Most were photobucket.) After that, I used another site and I noticed the site was not available anymore, so I assume all those links are dead too.

BTW2, I still need to write up something about the trip home. I took quite a few photos.

Very entertaining TR. The pictures are great. Thanks for sharing the link.

If all you photographers have not yet seen 'Jay Myself,' it's worth a watch. Interesting documentary about Jay Maisel and his rather unusual collection of objects of interest, as well as the process of packing and moving everything after 50 years in one place. I just saw it a couple weeks ago.

I like his photography and I looked at the trailer, which looks great. I'll see if Netflix has it.

Thanks,

Jay and Meg: What service did you watch it on?
I watched the trailer. I'd love to see it.
But "Fandango"/Google play got terrible reviews as a streaming service. I don't do anything that's Apple.
I ain't paying if it's going to be a pain in the butt to watch.

Jay,
Thanks to Brindledog! :D

It's not on Netflix. You can rent "Jay Myself" on Amazon Prime for $3.99.
I've not had any problems with streaming on Amazon Prime, so I'll watch it there.

Hi Jay

Just finished reading your trip report from last year. Really enjoyed it. I love your B&W photography. Once again you remind me to slow down and look for the small patterns instead of always looking for the grand vistas. I can sympathize with your back problems. The day you got back from your trip I endured an 8 hr 4 level cervical spinal fusion. The effects of a bad bicycle accident from 20 years ago finally caught up with me. The good new is the surgery was a success but I definitely can't do what I used to do. No more 20 mile day hikes through the mountains for this guy. I guess this will let me focus more on photography. Hope your healthy and thanks for the trip report.

Hey Matt,

Thanks for the kind words. Fusions are no fun. My Dad had three back surgeries, and I'm sure at least one was a fusion. (All three?) My brother has had one, and years later, is still not doing great. The other brother has avoided the knife, but has had lifelong back problems. So I just assumed I'd never have a problem. :D Besides, roofing, concrete, building a garage, porch, etc, my docs says she's never seen a skier without disc degeneration. Hell, I didn't know that.

Take care of that back.

Jay:

You missed your calling my friend!
You should retire, hit the road with your trailer rig and be a travel writer!
Seriously, I love your reports.

Catholic schools :) :) I remember well.
Smart mouth and talking! LOLOL
Sister Mary Clement whacked my hands more than once with a 3 corner engineering scale
I also had the "privilege" of having my desk placed right smack up against her desk at one time---so she could keep an eye on me.
The Sisters of St. Joseph would all be felons in today's world.
That said, the education at St Joseph School(grades 1-8) was first rate.
St Joseph produced a number of valedictorians at the local high school--including my nephew.

The High Line is a wonderful drive. I've driven to Ft. Peck several times but it's always been for the Boss.
Gotta love all those old abandoned buildings along US2, a real nostalgia trip.
He has a 300 acre hunting place right on the Milk river where it joins the Missouri river.
I may ask if I can go over this fall to hunt. I'll take my camera get some "mood" shots on a grim, cold fall day.

Dead trees in the back country and abandoned grain elevators in the front country. 8)
Love it.

Speaking of motorcycles--your comment on the Beartooth weather...
Big Boss's niece, the gal I work for, her partner had a BAD motorcycle crash on Saturday.
Riding with a group on a borrowed bike, she went down hard and was darn near killed.
Broken back, leg, shattered hip, ruptured spleen, etc. Took the hide and flesh off her hip.
God knows what else. She was air lifted to Spokane, then on to Seattle.
Bad stuff :(
My dad would never let me have a motorcycle--probably a good thing in my case.

I love your reports Jay. Keep hitting the road and give us MORE!! :D
As always tell Julie HI!
I miss you guys.

pete

PS
Sorry I wimped out and didn't make it up to Iceberg Notch.
The f'in WIND was just too much for me.

Taking a snack break from washing vehicles...

Damn I hate to hear about people going down on motorcycles. So many ride without protective clothing or helmets. On a bicycle, I get it. On a motorcycle, I don't get it. No comment on boss lady, I'm just sayin' it's dangerous worth some precaution. Anyway, that's a lot of serious ortho work and I don't doubt it could have been worse if...(fill in the blank). She's got a long road in front of her. Damn, it's just painful thinking about it. Wish her the best.

As for the Notch, I'm sure you gave it the deserved effort since you had my comments in the back of your head. Do you think you could day hike it from Logan? I can't remember if I exited at Many Glacier or Logan, but I started at MG early. Before 7 am I believe. If you get reservation next year, maybe I could join you.
