Indiana hiker,

The climb to the old lookout on Divide is probably less than one mile (as the crow flies) from the parking area. There is no real trail but the route is obvious. The lookout was still in place as of late July 2018. However, it is in bad shape. Much of the floor is broken out. Parts of the roof and sides are also broken out and one side is caved in. I would not expect the lookout to be standing much longer but I said that a few years ago.

Bill:

You chopped off 4 of the 7 people in your group shot from Divide hike.
Your posted image was 1600+ pixels wide. Anything over 900-1000 pixels wide gets chopped for many viewers.
I took the liberty of fixing it. 8)
I'll email you(PM me an email addy) a reformatted image that you can substitute in your Divide post above if you want to.

Day Six – Red Eagle Lake Trail
We were looking for something not very strenuous today. Tara and I drove to the Old Ranger Station near St. Mary and then started on the Red Eagle Lake Trail. We hiked a couple miles on the trail then turned back. On the way back we took the trail past the Beaver Ponsd.

Day Seven – Two Medicine and Upper Two Medicine Lakes

On Friday we decide to hike in the Two Medicine area. Nina has joined us and Angela and Wendy also join us today. We arrive in mid-morning but did find parking in one of the lots. We start hiking on the trail along the north side of two Medicine Lake. To get there we first hike around Pray Lake.

In this area Wendy was leading us. She stopped suddenly saying she thought something had crossed the trail in front of her. This part of the trail had a lot of thimbleberry bushes and other tall vegetation. A couple minutes later a small bear cub climbed a tree about 25 feet off the trail on the lake side. The bear cub went up about the tree about 15 feet, looked around and then backed down the tree. We were concerned that the mother was in the area so we waited a while but did not see or hear any other sign of bear.

We decided to take the boat back across Two Medicine Lake. The first boat filled with people who already had tickets (those who had taken the boat across the lake to this point earlier in the day). The boat captain said he would return for us as soon as he could get back. The Sinopah was back for us in about 30 minutes.

From Two Medicine I headed back to Great Falls for my early morning flight back to Minneapolis. Another Glacier trip was completed.
