Brownies is OK but likely to be crowded.Does anyone have any experience with "Brownies" hostel? It WOULD be nice to stay somewhere with a shower if possible, at least at the end of the trip.
If all you want is a shower, You can get a shower token for a few bucks at Swiftcurrent Inn store, or at the store at Rising Sun.
No need to drive to Brownies imo.
Showers go about 6-8 minutes at token operated showers. KOA no limit on time if you're a guest. Swimming pool and hot tub as well at the KOA.
I would agree about getting a reservation at KOA, or Johnson's CG across the road from KOA, or somewhere, and do it NOW.
You're coming at peak of the season. It will be very difficult to impossible to get a place to stay without a reservation.
Neither KOA nor Johnson's are expensive. Johnson's was about $30/night for a tent spot. KOA is in the $30's I think, but a nicer.
KOA has a store, showers(free if staying there), hot tub, pool, and coin laundry for clothes.
Regarding side trips...
MOL is just a short hike from GLF.
So you'll have plenty of time to go up to Margaret Lake if you are OK doing a little bushwhacking.
Margaret Lake is well worth doing if you can do it.
And even if you don't go all the way to the lake(about 1 1/2 miles I think) you can get up to the falls below the lake.
The falls will be spectacular this year the last week of July.
An alternative would be hike up to Stoney Indian Pass from MOL.
Beautiful country. You did good

PS
I've never had any privacy problems with any of the places I mentioned.
