Mountain ID question

Post by llholmes1948 »

The Flathead Beacon has an article about the photo collection of Ed Gilliland:

https://flatheadbeacon.com/2021/06/23/a ... -no-other/

The lead photo is taken on top of Mount Saint Nicholas. Since I am unlikely to ever get there perhaps someone (and maybe someone who has been there!) can help me with a few questions:

In what direction are we looking in this photo?

What are the mountains in the distance - the flattop appearing mountain on the extreme left and the pointy mountain on the right?

And what is the mountain in the distance over the right shoulder of the person on the right?

Thanks,
Lyman

Lyman,

I’m pretty sure the pointed one on the far right is Flinsch near Dawson Pass. On the far left maybe Stimson?

Ralph,
Thanks very much for your post. It is always interesting to look at these mountains from different angles (and usually it causes me to guess wrong!)

I should also add that, as the only person I have personally met who has climbed Mount Saint Nicholas, I appreciate your insight!
