Re: Train derailment-Joplin

AMTRAK is a sad joke for Rail service. It should be done away with.

Those of you who are members may want to check the NON GLACIER thread.
I have an important announcement there.
I may( or anyone) copy it to hear since I know there are lurkers who follow me here.

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

I hope the biopsy results are good too. Thanks for the pictures. I like the St. Mary Lake sunrise. The earlier St. Mary Lake (Wild Goose Island) sunset is neat too. Bill Thanks Matt and David :) Nothing obvious found during my upper and lower GI procedure. Biopsy results in a week. Thanks all for c...

Moving To Florida Spring 2022

I know this will come as a shock to most, probably all of you. No one reason. I'm simply not happy living here anymore. Some reasons in no particular order are: Attending my bother-in-law's funeral back in July made me realize just how important "family" is. I have very little family left-...

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Not that the bright part is too bad, but I've found that the dodge tool just can't save blown out areas well. If you're clever with the cloning tool I suggest dragging some of the exiting clouds and sky nearby into the blown out area. I've had some luck doing it on a few of my images. Hoping things...

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Pete, always interesting stuff. The clouds in the Goose Island one are great. Wedding pics at sunrise, eh? I arrived at Sun point at 0645 and it was still almost dark. The photographer was still in her car snoozing. She was supposed to meet the couple at 0630. She wanted to get set up well before s...

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

The trip to GNP was pretty much a bust for photos. Windy at sunrise and it picked up more after. I spent a couple hours watching a BIG black bear(~350lbs we thought) with a Grand Teton ranger on the ridge across from the pit toilets east of Jackson Overlook. Very interesting guy. Six image panograp...

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

As always beautiful Pics. I particularly like the Wild Goose evening shot. Thanks Ken! I got to the parking area at WGI a bit later than I wanted because I was watching the bear just up the road. 8) The light was changing rapidly and so I didn't really have time to look for a better composition. I ...

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Here are a few images from my little sort of spontaneous road trip to Logan Pass and beyond September 23rd. The video is going to take a little more work. I made the video in part for some YouTube folks in Europe whose channel(s) I follow. That's why you hear me giving advice about bears and eating...

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

It looks like it's getting chilly there. Snow in the mountains and all. Yup. You'll see in the video(s). Mt Jackson and the others in that are have quite a bit of snow, especially on the north facing slopes. Should make for some nice photos if I can get out there. I have some medical issues. see be...

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

I'm sick of this chat and about to dump it. I had a fairly long post with a picture and when I posted it I got a f'ing server error and lost the post. It really pisses me off since it's hard for me to type these days. Yeah, yeah I should have copied the whole post before posting. Here's a snap from...

Re: Ole Creek - new trail

...But I think its pretty doubtful there will ever be any new trails or restored old trails. One big problem is just the NPS budget and how it keeps getting cut and is never enough to really address all the maintenance backlog let alone build new stuff... Matt, while we disagree on many issues, you...

Re: Ole Creek - new trail

Orin: I've looked at the Boulder Creek drainage many times from Siyeh Pass. Do you believe it's possible to still hike up the drainage and how far? I wonder if enough of the old trail is still visible or would it be the bushwhack from hell? Where would the "trailhead" be? pete  https...
