Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Pete,

Your Smugmug link takes me to the general Smugmug page (www.smugmug), not to your pictures.

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Pete, You have a bunch of incredible photographs that you have posted lately. I have never tried making panoramas but but it looks fascinating. I am glad you found that old thread about the Alder Trail. When wynsteve asked about the Alder Trail I knew we had had a discussion about it a few years ago...

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Pete, thanks for the pictures.

I tend to think the air at Logan Pass is usually clear but you pictures show really clear air. The Glacier lilies are great - especially that close to the Visitor Center.

And, yes, it looks like trips to Logan Pass will require really early start times.

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Pete, Those ice pictures are fascinating - especially the ice on the rocks. I am thinking about how the water was blown onto the rocks and then froze in place. It had to be really windy to get the water up there and then quite cold to freeze the water before it ran off the rocks. And great to see pi...

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Pete,

Those are some great pictures. I especially like the last two - great resolution and color contrast.

Sorry for the loss of your friend.

Thanks for the update on Bonnie and Clyde. I like your "better than a sow's ear" pictures, especially the second one. The blue sky and sun on the snow on the mountains of the garden wall is a great contrast to the clouds and shaded mountains in the foreground. Merry Christmas and Happy New...

Re: 2019 "Snaps" Around Gracier National Park...plus

Pete, It is great to see both Bonnie and Clyde again. I always think of birds migrating south for the winter. But I suppose lake McDonald is not a bad place to go if you are a raven. I do wonder how far away they go for the summer. The "framing tree" looks like it was deteriorating but it ...

It looks like a lot of new snow in the mountains east of Lake McDonald.

It is neat to see Clyde again.

Re: Current weather?

That sure sounds like winter - potentially four feet of snow?

That snow and daytime temperatures below freezing is pretty wicked for the last weekend of September.

Great pictures. I have not watched all your other videos yet but did enjoy these.

That is a huge patch of stickseed.

The rain on the tent is nice and soothing - I know that may not be the when one has to take the tent down and head out in the rain.

Thanks for the trip report. I was in the park roughly the same time you were. I thought the temperatures were on the warm side too. You have some great pictures. You missed out on Cracker Lake but it is hard to beat that view from Swiftcurrent Lookout. And you found some fantastic beargrass. Bill

Pete, That pika picture is great. They are hard to see. Getting one to sit still long enough to get a picture is a great challenge. I agree about the paintbrush color. The colors and color intensities seem to change in different parts of the part. I assume soil type made a different but describing i...

Pete, Those cloudy day flower pictures are great. I was on that trail to Oberlin two weeks ago and saw a few yellow monkeyflower, nothing like the number you found. The plants with water droplets (sometimes called mopheads) are the seed heads of the pasque flower, a type of anemone. The plants you s...
