Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

I hope the biopsy results are good too.

Thanks for the pictures. I like the St. Mary Lake sunrise. The earlier St. Mary Lake (Wild Goose Island) sunset is neat too.

Re: Eastside Restaurants

We ate at Two Sisters Sunday and Tuesday evenings this week (August 1 and 3). We arrived around 5:30. They told us a 20 minute wait once and a 30 minute wait the second time. Both waits were about 20 minutes. Food was very good. They are short of staff. We ate at Serrano's in East Glacier Monday eve...

Re: Current weather?

One other note - the Siyeh Pass trail from Siyeh Bend to the Piegan Pass junction received rain yesterday. The trail was actually wet in places, not muddy but the first people through this morning left boot prints in the wet soil. And water had run off the trail in the cutouts. So not a lot of rain ...

Re: Current weather?

We hiked the Siyeh Pass trail today. Going up there was occasionally clear sky and sunshine overhead but the horizons were always hazy. On the St. May Lake side there was always haze. The mountains across St. Mary Lake were just shadows in the haze. I did notice the smokey smell that has occurred a ...

Re: Grand Teton Park May 21-26, 2021

Great videos and photos.

The snow in the Tetons was a surprise after seeing the other pictures. Was this a different location in the Tetons or did the snow melt that fast?

I, too, am curious about Jay's question - how do you find the bears?

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Pete,

Thanks for the videos and pictures. I like the first St. Mary Valley pano. Thre is still a lot of snow but not at the lower levels.

It sure was windy - lots of whitecaps on the lake. Sorry the camping did not go well and I hope your toe is better.

Thanks for the eastside pictures. It has been along time since anyone has been able to post pictures of the park from Highway 89.

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Pete, We have been on Grave Creek Road near Eureka. We did some exploring in that area in November 2017. We did not go high enough to hit snow and ice but I remember thinking that road itself could be challenging in bad weather. and you were on a driveway off Grave Creek Road. I am glad you were abl...

Re: If you can't log in and getting 404 error, try this

Pete,

Your post helped me. I emailed another chat page member asking if she could get into the chat page becasue I could not. She responded that she could get in but that must be why Pete posted this message and she copied your post. So thanks.

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Pete,

Thanks for the winter North Fork pictures. It looks like Saturdya was a nice day. I especailly like the pano looking north from the bridge at Polebridge. And I think the first barn picture shows a lot of character.

Good to hear that your eye is doing well.

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Ouch - I should have said be careful on wet rocks and parking areas.

I am glad you are feeling better. Tailbone bruises can hurt for a while. I hope you heal quickly.

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Pete, I think the reflections in your first picture are great. There is more orange color in the water reflections than on the mountains. I like the water flowing over the rocks too. But be careful around those wet rocks. Interesting idea - a grilled steak at the Apgar campground on Christmas Eve. W...

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Pete, You have a lot of great pictures here. I like the aspens along the Polebridge Road. The aspens provide incredible contrast to the other colors. However, I really like your "practice" image of the pine tree and aspens. The detail is great. I particularly like the pine cones and pine n...

That last Avalanche Creek picture is great. I have never seen the water in Avalanche Creek that low

And the St. Mary Lake picture you posted is good - I can imagine the 12 x 36 print is great.

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Pete, I am glad you had mostly decent weather for your Granite Park Chalet trip. I noticed on the Park page that the GTTS road was closed at Avalanche today because of winter weather. Tonight was probably not such a good night to have a Granite Park Chalet reservation. It has been four or five years...
