Re: 2024 Lottery Results

I think your math is wrong. It should be around 15 per time shot.
3000 permits/ 40 days/ 5 slots a day =15

Re: 2024 Lottery Results

Years ago (maybe 6) I was able to transfer a permit to someone not on the permit. All I did was call the backcountry office and give them the details (phone number, email, name and address) of the person I wanted to transfer it to. I'm not sure if things have changed since then.

Re: 2024 Lottery Results

Which forces out other 3 other applicants in the early permit process. So let's say that scenario happens... 4 members of a party all won a slot in the lottery. Assuming the member of the 4 that had the earliest time slot would pick an itinerary, what happens to the other 3. Could they get itinerar...

Re: 2024 Lottery Results

That 7000 application number is probably the highest its ever been. I bet groups trying to get one permit have everyone in the group apply to increase their chances. The problem is a group of 4 might actually have 4 successful permit wins, but they will only use one for the most part. Which forces o...

Re: 2024 Lottery Results

It does seem odd that almost 50% of the applications failed to get a spot. With 3000 permits you'd think maybe only about a quarter might not get anything.

Re: 2024 Lottery Results

Hey, for those that have received a positive outcome for the lottery. What time are you seeing? Is it 7 am MST on the day you were awarded? Out of the five of us that I know submitted, three were unsuccessful. One received, April 19th and the other April 29th. Hopefully, our dates and campsites in ...

Re: 2024 Lottery Results

I got April 1st. Not sure where that puts me but I guess it's better than not getting anything at all. Does anyone know how many permits they issue per hour and per day? Sorry to the folks who got skunked. The earliest award date is March 21 and the latest is April 30. I would definitely trade my A...

Re: April 8, 2024 Total Solar Eclipse

I lived near Rochester, NY for awhile which is in the totality zone. Would have been able to see it from the backyard as well. I'm not sure I will make it out there in April though.

Nice Trip Report! Good idea not staying too long on Dragon's tail with the weather worsening. Was the picture of the chute the one going up Reynolds?

Sounds pretty amazing. Thanks for sharing with us. Like Zepp, I would be interested in hearing more on the gear you used.

Re: TR: Summer in Grand Teton National Park, 2023

One of my WindRiver backpacking options I was thinking about was a hike to Gannet Glacier which is on the same trail system as Bomber Basin. Never made it there though. If you do go down to Pinedale someday, There's good day hiking options at the Green River lakes trailhead about 45 minutes away on ...
