Inside North Fork Road - 2023

I am afraid that I have not paid much attention to this the past few years but is the Inside North Fork Road now open in the summer all the way between Fish Creek and Polebridge or is there still a portion of the road between these points where it is impassable and closed? If it will be open this su...

2023 Road Construction

The Flathead Beacon has an article about road construction around the Park this summer. I tried to post the link but was not successful.

Re: Sperry Chalet, Granite Park, 2023

I think that generally Swiftcurrent Pass is open before the Highline. On our 2014 trip, the Highline as I mentioned, was not open but we met a number of hikers who had hiked up over Swiftcurrent Pass from Many Glacier, including two or three whom we met at Swiftcurrent Lookout during our hike there....

Re: Sperry Chalet, Granite Park, 2023

For years I swore that I never ever wanted to hike up the Loop. But on our 2014 stay at Granite Park Chalet in early July, the Highline was not open so we hiked up the Loop. It involved numerous breaks along the way but I was surprised that it was not as bad as I feared. Of course I suppose it helpe...

Ranger Lyle Ruterbories passes

Sad news that Ranger Lyle Ruterbories, long-time Ranger at Kintla Lake, has passed away at the age of 102. A wonderful person and a great asset to the Park for so many years. He certainly made us feel welcome at Kintla. https://hungryhorsenews.com/news/2022/dec/21/lyle-ruterbories-longtime-kintla-la...

Re: Anyone done iceberg lake lately?

ptguard, Did you do this hike and if so, how was it? Friends who were in the Park about a week ago hiked to Cobalt Lake and reported a lot of snow on the trail. Before they went I had suggested that they continue on to the Pass but I don't think they did so probably because of the snow. They also hi...
