Re: I left my hiking boots in the trunk of the Uber.

Jen,

I like the sunrise photo at Helen and the B&W from Glenns. Yup, there was some rain. I was working on a photo from just below Margaret this morning, so I'm about on the same schedule as you and hopefully I'll get to posting something soon.

Netflix is calling.

Re: Glacier 2023: One of the fortunate few, Pt 1

Well, you're right. Shooting long exposures is a bit more involved. I used to shoot aperture priority and then cover the eye finder with the back of my fingers or a lens cap since the camera senses light coming in the back and screws up the exposure. But here's my process. -Yup, a tripod. Mine is fa...

Glacier 2023: One of the fortunate few, Pt 1

Here's the leadup to the backpack trip. I know, it's long for a "leadup."

Re: I left my hiking boots in the trunk of the Uber.

Shut my mouth. I was just (finally) working on the photos from the hike to Helen. I made it about half way through, but here's one from the morning. 1D5A1570-BW.JPG Seeing the pictures here make me want to write the report on GNP chat rather than wordpress. Hike to Helen, with a morning greeting of ...

Re: I left my hiking boots in the trunk of the Uber.

You're prompting me to get rolling on my trip report. I'm up to July 7th, two days before we started the backpack. In lieu of the "Cattle Barron" group photo, I'll offer this.

Re: GNP 2023 - TSE to TNE (the long way)

I came across a woman with a handgun at Boulder Pass. She had everything she owned laid on the ground and I was waiting for the tent pad. I said something like "a gun eh." She said her parents wouldn't let her hike without it and it weighed a ton. (I can believe that.) There was a story ab...

The park creek cabin looks pretty new and nice.

I've never been in this area, so I'm appreciating the report.

GTTS Chalet

The Glacier Park Facebook page had an interesting photo. The caption: This photo by George A. Grant, taken July 5, 1933, shows three waitresses in Swiss costumes on the veranda of the Going-to-the-Sun Chalets. St. Mary Lake is behind them. Louis Hill and the Great Northern Railway promoted Glacier a...

Re: Eastern Sierras Trip Report

Just seeing this now. Great pictures! It brings back memories of hiking in Kings Canyon in the mid-80s. No reservations, no people, just hike. Afterward drove into Yosemite valley. No reservations, just pick a campsite.

Re: 2021 Random photos

Yeah, it was uploaded 11 years ago, so that works out to 2012. A fall at the falls? That could be a catastrophe. We were supposed to go listen to our friend play with a few other equally talented musicians, but I think Julie forgot. (Not home yet.) They play periodically at a local bar as a fundrais...
