Re: Piegan

We did it by Piegan pass a few years ago. Once at the pass head to the saddle between Piegan and Pollock. I could not find a trail for this part so we just made our way to the saddle as best we could. Once there head to the south side of the peak and then walk up the ridge to the summit. It is a scr...

Re: How far are the ledges on the Highline (HockeyRef) trail

Here is a video I made in 2006 (video quality has improved a lot since then) In the first 30 seconds you will see the garden hose section. Don't let the fact that I am walking scare you. It makes it look a little more intimidating than it really is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZ4q7bybzoU&li...

Re: McDonald Lodge to Jackson Overlook

We have parked at Logan twice for this hike. We caught the first shuttle from Logan back to Jackson overlook. You should be able to be on the trail before 8:30.
Both times we were lucky to catch a shuttle to Logan from McD with no problem.

Re: 1 Week, 3 Big Hikes

You seem to have a lot of energy. I would suggest you add Dragon's Tail ridge line to your Hidden Lake overlook. Probably add 2 hours but it has some of the best views in the park IMHO  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v394/jimmc/GNP%202009/dragons%20tail/DT41.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/...

Re: detailed maps

I have found google earth to be helpful. Turn the hiking trails on. It shows distances between trail junctions and you can get the elevations for wherever your pointer is

Re: This year's weather / snow levels

Ooops   Thanks Paul Here is a comparison of 5/13/11 to 5/12/14. 2011 was a high snow year. It looks to be a little less snow this year than 2011. Especially in the lower areas. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v394/jimmc/GNP/amcam051311_zps56b6202c.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/...

I haven't heard anything about the Loch Ness monster in a while. Do you think it moved to Glacier?
