Re: USGS Map Sale

Glad you found some good stuff!
I have the unstillable wanderfoot - must be Wanderfuss - like crazy these days, but still can't plan anything past early July.
Kind of like this guy:

USGS Map Sale

USGS is selling 60,000 maps, $1 each plus shipping.
The ones for Glacier are not compelling.
There is a map for Bob Marshall and Great Bear Wildernesses.
Fun site to poke around:

Re: East Side Shuttle (GPI) - Why such lousy times?

Hitching is reasonably accepted and accommodated in Glacier (to get back to OP's idea of going carless). And trail buddies, some conceivably on this forum, might do the favor of a dropoff. Asking ppl in the campground if they are going your way might also work. (I prefer a car, having learned how to ...

Re: Recommendations for Overnight Hike for Newbies

This may be the way to go for the 1st time without having to buy a ton of gear. I know we'll have to supply some equipment but we can rent the packs, sleeping bags, pads and a 2 person tent. I'd like to know what routes they might have for this hike. They mention they sometimes go out of Two Medici...

Re: Anyone having problems with the bkcntry reserv app page

I noticed that the two NPS sites I have been checking frequently both changed their formats about 48 hours ago (and I'll assume ALL did), and some of the second-level links, such as webcams and links to social media, were not in place immediately, producing only a blank page and a no-access code.

This sounds like a project for Wilderness Volunteers, the folks who patiently maintain the high-use trails in Swiftcurrent area.

Re: Hiking times for best photos?

We are heading to Many Glacier first of August. We will reserve the boat ride from the hotel for either 9 or 11am to then hike the Grinnell hike. Would either time matter as far as getting better pictures or even just considering the duration of such a hike with both photo enthusiasts and young kid...

Very nice! I love blue-purple fleurs (iris, bluebonnets, bluebells, violets) colonizing a big green space.

That's quite a life history! I wonder whether she made the sweater she's wearing? Nice berry colors, with winter white.
