Re: Reynolds Mountain Lookout

Just came across this old thread. I was thinking we'd talked about this Reynolds Mtn Lookout this past spring, but it's two seasons ago now! :o
Did anyone ever get a chance to get up there & look for it?
(or did it happen & I missed the post?)

Re: Do we really need reservations for boat tours?

Even on a September weekday the Many Glacier boats were full up on the morning we did the Grinnell hike. We stopped at the MGH boathouse about 20 minutes before a departure & there were 15-16 folks on the wait list. Rather than risk it, we just hiked around the two lakes. We did catch the final ...

Thanks Lyman! One of my biggest thrills at Glacier was seeing (& getting a couple pics of) a wolverine on the Oberlin Trail.

Where is the bridge at Virginia Falls? I was looking at our pics of the falls and don't see (or recall) where there was a bridge...

Re: We lost an old friend today

So sorry to hear about that. We had to put one of our cats to sleep last month that we'd also had to give insulin shots to for the past three years; he finally got an ulcerated tumor & life just became too uncomfortable. I know you'll have lots of memories.

Re: reviews for several restaurants all over Glacier and Canada

I'm another one who has to give a thumbs up to the Italian restaurant at Swiftcurrent. We ate there about 5 evenings (out of 2 weeks) on our past Glacier trip and the meals were always enjoyable. Several times we spied folks at nearby tables that we'd seen on the trail & had a good time sharing ...

Good mix of pics and words; I enjoyed it! Besides the Glacier pics, the Canadian Rockies pics brought back memories from a visit we made a couple of years ago.

A few more shots of scenes along the trail on this page:

As you can see, there are a lot of cascades between St. Mary's and Virginia, so don't turn back too soon!

Re: Daypack as Carry-On??

We've been using various daypacks as carry-ons for the past dozen years & have never had any problems, either domestic or international. As mentioned, they need to be within the size limits, which yours seems to be. We did laundry at Swiftcurrent, where we were staying at the half-way point of a...

Re: Front Country camp cooking

Any idea if the Park service accepts coolers as a donation? There has to be a cabin somewhere that needs one :) We always buy an inexpensive one when we arrive at a destination and leave it at the last place we stay. Our final day at Glacier last year was at an Apgar cabin; we told them we were lea...
