Re: 2021 Season Opening News

Nice find .... where to even start .... So you have to know June 1st exactly when and where you want a shuttle 3 months later ? Isn’t the purpose of the shuttles to reduce traffic and parking lot filling ? This type of system just encourages people to drive their car in. I get they are trying to man...

Re: Ticketed Entry Issue

Thanks for the recon Pete! According to this article, demand is much larger than supply, but that should be improving as they'll be releasing more tickets with the anticipated opening of GTTSR on July 1st. https://flatheadbeacon.com/2021/05/06/demand-outweighs-availability-as-glacier-park-debuts-tic...

Re: 2021 Backcountry Permit Applications: Date for submittal now March 17

Sorry to hear that Scott. What itinerary/dates were you shooting for? You may be able to be strategic with what is left and bank of walk-in permit modifications to the back end of the itinerary to get what you want. They are up to almost 6500 site nights processed, so almost 2 nights per permit app...

Re: 2021 Backcountry Permit Applications: Date for submittal now March 17

Fingers crossed for you, Scott. I hope you hear back soon. Agreed. Up to 3865 nights processed, so above 1 night per permit average with the rejections and dual site caveats. I'd guess they still have a ways to go. My primary and secondary (primary with neighboring site flexibility) are down to 2 a...

The Chatters are having great permit success! Truly happy for you all. I’d be happy with any one of these itineraries.
Yes, I think they batched us into the 'make them sweat it out a bit, then give them exactly what they asked for' group.

I think just Pete, Paul and Jason are left?

Re: 2021 Backcountry Permit Applications: Date for submittal now March 17

That's great tibber! Sites are moving fast, GRN is almost all gone for August. My itinerary is still available minus ELL at the end- there is still hope! You and me both. I'm down to 10 start dates left for 'ideal' itinerary and 14 for 'alternates', which includes SPE for ELL substitution. I figure...

Re: 2021 Backcountry Permit Applications: Date for submittal now March 17

Tina spoke just a tad too soon as at 8:34 AM, guess who got an email that I didn't see until returning from my successful owl hunt? If you guessed me, you would be correct. It's one of the leisurely outings we applied for: OLD NON UPT  Congrats on breaking the seal, hopefully the floodgates ...

Re: 2021 Backcountry Permit Applications: Date for submittal now March 17

Apparently, the GTTSR tickets are now official. https://www.nps.gov/glac/planyourvisit/gtsrticketedentry.htm I wish they would have waited until it was actually bad (needed). Last year was an anomaly with only one entrance/exit. Perhaps this year will also be challenging due to limits on shuttle oc...
