We're getting ready for an upcoming trip in glacier (starts sept 11)- just wondering if others take tuna packs while backpacking in glacier? I know there can be increased bear activity this time of year, but trying to figure out alternative to pb and j for 6 days.

We have a permit for sept 11 and want to try to change/alter parts of it the day before. We will be in st mary's sept 9 and will be starting our backpack out of many glacier so will need to take the shuttle up there on sept 10. We're leaning towards getting 2 cars- sounds like it will be easier and maybe even cheaper. We can drive 1 up to bowman lake and leave the other at apgar before our hike. Do you know if many glacier will take reservations in sept? Or did you said if we don't have a car we can get a backpacker site? ...

Right, last day is really long! It's not the exact itinerary we asked for and thanks for the suggestions on changes. We'll see what we can do with a walk-in permit. Happy to have something and hopefully we can tweak it a bit.

Last yr said shuttle ran until sept 23.

Our trip starts sept 11 and we come out sept 16. So we would be ok ahead of time regarding the shuttles? Will mountain chief cab co go up to bowman lake?

Or should we leave a car at apgar, have the taxi pick us up at bowman lake at end of hike (I know we would need to pre-arrange this and be out by a certain time).

We'll be going to glacier mid sept- we got a backpacking permit for sept 11 out of iceberg/ptarmigan trailhead. I'm just wondering if campgrounds reservations are available then or how busy they might be. We would want to stay at many glacier sept 10.

Yea! We got a permit- spet 11- sept 16 (I think giving a big date range saved us).

ELH, MOJ, WAT, FRA, BRO, BOW foot.

Some really long days and some really short days, so maybe we'll see if we can tweak it with walk-in-permit. Very happy to get one!

We still haven't heard anything. Wondering if anything is left?! We gave about a 6 week window from early aug to sept 15, multiple routes. I really wanted to backpack this year. I had knee surgery last aug- I've been doing all of my exercises and was looking forward to trying out my repaired knee.
