Re: Campground Reservations

I saw elsewhere online that someone called the park and they were told if you had reservations you'd be called a couple days in advance to discuss alternative options. This person said you could sleep in your car or be given a free site at Rising Sun or Two Medicine. Not sure how that would work now...

Re: 2019 Backcountry Permits

Just received mine and it could’ve been better:

GAB-MOJ-GLF

In and out at CME. Will definitely try to change it once they processed everything, hopefully some sites slip through. Or just do a walk in.

Re: Campground Reservations

Word to the wise; I went online this morning for Many Glacier, pre-selected my sites and clicked right at 10 AM est. It failed (unable to process or something), went back to the availability page, saw sites still open and tried again, failed, and then went back one more time selecting my sites and w...

Re: 2018 Backcountry Permit Buzz

So despite a time stamp of 10:22 AM I got a permit. Unfortunately due to some life circumstances that occurred after I applied I may not be able to go. Its still unclear at this time but if anyone who is already planning on being there the week below wants to PM me, I could try and coordinate when ...

Since it was brought up, does anyone have any recommendations on routes near Glacier with big views?

Re: 2018 Backcountry Permit Buzz

I wonder if its those actually attempting to click submit only or is it anyone trying to access? Mine failed at various stages various times. I'm not sure I even made it to submit before my actual submission went through. Based on the info they have access to this does seem like the most fair soluti...

Ah, alright. I removed my comment to avoid any confusion.

Re: 2018 Backcountry Permit Buzz

Does anyone know if it revises your date submitted time with your payment time? I'm almost certain I was originally in around 10:16 but now its showing 10:22. Likely will make no difference but just curious. I had issues even processing my payment which is why it took an additional 6 minutes. Also, ...

Re: 2018 Backcountry Permit Buzz

Just a tip for any who ends up not getting their route or a revised version, sites do often open up earlier than the indicated date. As long as you're more than 7 days out you can submit a revised itinerary once the site opens. Obviously its dependent on snow level and all that but I was able to add...

Re: 2018 Backcountry Permit Buzz

Its not an issue of internet speed but pay.gov's being unable to handle the traffic. Its really not the fault of the Glacier NPS staff either. Although they should change the process if they know the current system really can't act the way its supposed to. Having everyone submit and then doing a ran...

Re: 2018 Backcountry Permit Buzz

Can't even get to the form. They shouldn't use pay.gov if it can't handle it.

Re: 2018 Backcountry Permit Buzz

I do know that you can't have two separate permit applications open at the same time. It'll kick you out of both. So if you're planning on submitting for two separate trips, do the one you want most first.

Re: 2018 Backcountry Permit Buzz

Do you have to wait until 8 am mountain time to open your app and click through to submit or can you be on the final page of your permit and click submit at 8 AM?
