Re: Two Medicine and Running Eagle Falls 8-8-2021

I never knew that lake was Prayer Lake. The water (on the video) looks clear and cold.

Re: Beaver Pond Loop 8-7-2021

It must have been quite a storm. Much better to be inside when the sleet is coming down sideways.

The rare trip report. Excellent. It's been years since I've been on the "Ranger Cabin hike" and quite a while since Deadwood Falls (a favorite).

Thanks for posting.

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Pete, always interesting stuff. The clouds in the Goose Island one are great. Wedding pics at sunrise, eh? Let’s just say that I found out a tool for colon surgery has a 40mm diameter. Imagine that. General anesthesia is a good thing. For the next procedure, I’ve attached a seatbelt to the loo. I ha...

Re: Ole Creek - new trail

This is a good subject. The Boulder Creek drainage…..I’m wondering if there is a path across the dam. I assume it’s fenced off (at least that’s the picture I have in my head). So starting at the northern end(s) might be challenging. Ahean Pass…I have also looked at Helen Lake and thought it doable t...

Re: Virginia hiker not heard from in nearly a week found dead in Glacier National Park

There was a helicopter over me as I was hiking the Highline Trail north of Granite Park on Sep 2nd. It was low (just above the peaks or lower), so it appeared to be a search helicopter, but at the time, I didn't know the story. The 7th (as I recall) was a fairly calm day, and (from MG campground) I ...

Re: Better to sail w/torn sails than to not sail at all

This trip was 8 years ago. I get reminded up if every year since our grand daughter was born about the time I left.

I’ll take the next hour and re-read the report. BTW, what ever happened to trip reports?

Re: how can they do this?

I've been thinking about this issue for a while. I heard a podcast yesterday: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/08/03/podcasts/the-daily/coronavirus-hiring-job-vacancies-hospitality-industry.html?action=click&module=audio-series-bar®ion=header&pgtype=Article In short, the employers think the employees...

Re: No way to clear out private message inbox

I tried the "X" method too and that works. I swear I used to be able to delete one at a time from the main menu (or "store" one), but at least I can delete. I read through of the old messages before deleting them, and they're still interesting.

Thanks,

Re: No way to clear out private message inbox

I've run into the same problem again, except I can't delete messages one at a time. If someone wants to contact me, I'll put up my email in cryptic form.

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Since I compete in ski racing, I have pretty accurate measurement of my performance decline with age. The big reason is strength, and I was working on that last year, but this year I haven't done much strength training even though I know it will help my back. It just seems like there's not enough ti...

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Pete, glad you got up to Shangri La. Great hike and you hit a clear day, but it sounds like it was hot. Of course 80F in the sun is hot for me. So any comment on why you needed 4 liters. I assume you filtered once you got to the lake.

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Pete, glad you got out. Sounds like a nice hike and Dragon's Tail never disappoints. Today, Logan's was also busy: https://i.postimg.cc/QtK92Vg5/2021-07-11-Logan-Parking.jpg And the smoke from the wildfires make for a nice sunrise. https://i.postimg.cc/c4kWnTGx/2001-07-11-Mc-Donald-Lake-webcam.jpg D...

Re: how can they do this?

What they need are people to clean rooms. I don’t think it’s a handful of people either, and when it’s MG, McDonald, East Glacier, I’l bet they draw locals because there’s not enough housing on site for the employees. I’ll guess the locals are not the problem. In the past, they would bring in a bunc...

But, the food wasn’t in her tent at the time of the attack.
