Re: Hay Creek Fire

Ugh. Really hoping the fire crews can get ahead of this one. Praying for those in the way and that the crews will stay safe!

Re: 2021 Backcountry Permit Applications: Date for submittal now March 17

Scott, I'll be doing an entry/exit from Chief Mountain too (Sept 4th - Sept 10th). I picked up a Ticketed Entry pass yesterday which will cover the time leading up to the trip - when we exit, the limitations should be removed. There are still many passes available for that last week - hoping that bo...

Pete - awesome news! That will be a great trip! I've never been in that area that early, when do the passes in that area typically open up? Should be a great time to photo some bear grass, rushing water, and maybe some snowy peaks!

Re: No way to clear out private message inbox

If I try to do multiple at once (from my inbox), I get the same message. But if I open a message up and hit the "X" in the top right corner, it does delete the message without an issue.

Thanks! McKee - yep, we will definitely get to Margaret again. And maybe try to visit Ipasha or Sue as well! Pete - the trail from Chief in will be the section I've never hiked before, so I'll cross my fingers for a dry day for sure. Definitely looking forward to some quieter and more relaxing days!...

Re: 2021 Backcountry Permit Applications: Date for submittal now March 17

Congrats, Tibber! Glad to see someone I know get a permit! Still nothing for me. Looks like options are starting to get real low for my ideal date range, but I had a big window. So maybe something will squeak through! I'm definitely on high alert - checking my email immediately every time I see a no...

Re: 2021 Backcountry Permit Applications: Date for submittal now March 17

I requested ELH-HEL-COS-MOL-MOL-COS, It's pretty similar to yours except the first day is longer Nice! I think we have pretty similar goals. Would you think about taking the tunnel? Or in/out from Chief? Pete - I like your plans too. I always wish, after my trips, that I had spent a little more tim...

Re: 2021 Backcountry Permit Applications: Date for submittal now March 17

I put in for a 6 day trip in the Belly river for August. If I don't hear back by May, I will probably make plans to go the Wind River range like last year. I hope your recovery goes well. -Paul Hey Paul! What did your route look like? I think I asked for GAB-HEL-ELF-GLH-GLH-COS. Hoping for a more r...

Re: 2021 Backcountry Permit Applications: Date for submittal now March 17

Hey everybody! Kids and work have been keeping me busy, but put in two requests this year after ending to head to the Cascades in 2019 and Yellowstone in 2020. I got one night at Sperry in September, so trying to do GUN, ELL, and SPE leading up to it. Not likely, but it is early September, so maybe ...

Re: Sad News - David Parker has passed away

Debbie - So sorry for your loss. Dave truly built a great community here which has led to many lifelong friendships that otherwise would never have happened. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet you and him and thank you both for all of you've done for the members of this site. I hop...

Not sure why Glacier has chosen not to.
What's your route in NCNP? We backpacked there last summer and had a great trip (Copper Ridge - Chilliwack River Loop).

Re: 2020 Backcountry Permits

Yellowstone approved my dad's permit yesterday, so at least they're working and proceeding like there will be a backcountry season. Yes, I received a permit for Yellowstone yesterday as well! It was originally a backup plan, but we got the itinerary that I wanted and the schedule (assuming the park...
