Re: 2024 Lottery Results

Am I the first one here to secure a permit? My permit time was 3:00 pm today, and I picked up BOW HOL BOU BOW in mid August. I’ve never been to BOW but have stayed at HOL and been through Boulder Pass as part of our Northern Traverse in 2018. Looking forward to passing through the HOL BOU area twic...

Working on a solution.
I'll be glad to check your route for you.

Re: 2024 Lottery Results

I don't think there will much scalping going on. I think most backpackers aren't really interested in that sort of thing. I think some the people accepted will not get permits because some one in their group already got a permit with better options, some will get them and use them for another trip,...

I'm canceling some rooms at Rising Sun

Hello Glacier Denizens, Today (2/17/24) I'm canceling some reservations at Rising Sun for 8/3/24 - 8/8/24 (five nights). Two Motor Inn rooms (each w/ 2 doubles) and two Store Motel rooms (each w/ 2 doubles). If the Xanterra staff are not working this weekend or Monday (Presidents' Day), then it'll h...

Anybody know the room set-up at the new Sperry - How many rooms hold 1 guest, 2 guests, 3 guests, etc? Thanks.

orin wrote: Tue Jan 10, 2023 4:58 pm Well, surprisingly, in spite of being 1800 th in line, I already have a confirmed reservation. It probably helped that I asked for the first two nights that Granite is open. With a little luck I won't need snowshoes to get there. Good luck to everyone else.
Hope you have a great adventure!

Re: Glacier Park will require reservations for Two Medicine, Many Glacier valleys

What a mess for anyone planning a trip. I hate to say it, but I'm skipping Glacier this year. Last summer's visit broke me. There was way too much planning and wrangling required for our two weeks of day-hiking and backpacking in Glacier and Waterton with 6 people. (A surprise visit from Covid didn...

Re: Crowds

My group of 6 hit Logan Pass for a casual hike around 2 pm on August 6th with 2 cars. We circled for 5 - 10 minutes before a space opened up that we were positioned to take. Our second car found a space in the first pullout to the west, and made the short walk back. Being mellow and having some extr...

Re: BackCountry Permits 2022

Looks like about an hour and 15 minute drive from Brownies to Chief Mountain Customs in a perfect world. Scott FYI - In case you were unaware, there's been construction on Rt. 89 between Two Medicine and St. Mary the last couple of years. I don't know if it's continuing this year, but if so, it mig...

Re: BackCountry Permits 2022

I'll be there in early August. Planning to spend day 2 hiking in the Hudson Bay Creek Valley. Open to suggestions! Are you going to day-hike from REF to Triple Divide Pass on Day 2? That is a pleasant approach to access the Pass. That's a possibility, although it's a long day. I'm wondering if ther...

Sue, When are you doing REF? It looks like a great camping spot based on the CDT videos I've seen of it.
