Re: Bowman Lake Parking

Thanks very much for the insight Pete! I was afraid parking might be a hassle and was thinking it might be better to pick it up the day before (I have to work all day, so I guess I can give this as a reason why I need to leave early  ). It's been a while since I've been to Bowman Lake... couldn...

Bowman Lake Parking

We have a permit entering at Bowman Lake here in a couple of weeks. If we get our permit in the morning in Polebridge (right around 8 a.m.), will we have any issues finding parking at Bowman Lake? Do they have a designated backcountry parking area at Bowman? Thanks :)

Re: Glacier 2013: Best & Worst Moments

Best: Hiking to Grinnell Lake for my first time (it was after a couple days of pouring rain, the clouds were opening up and it was absolutely gorgeous) Swiftcurrent Pass with my sister Wolverine crossing the highline trail in front of us Worst: Downpour, nonstop rain the first day and a half of our ...

Re: Medicine Grizzly Lake questions

I just did this hike 2 weeks ago for my first time...I really enjoyed it! the views during the hike aren't the most exciting until you reach the meadow and then the lake, but it is worth it in my opinion. Beautiful lake with nice waterfalls. We saw tons of scat on the trail - probably the most I hav...

Re: I Can't Imagine a Vacation/Year at Glacier Without...

I can't imagine a year at Glacier without... 1. Taking a May bike ride behind the gate to Avalanche Trailhead and hiking to a frozen avalanche lake 2. Driving up the sun road on opening day to see all the snow and how much it will change at Logan Pass over the summer months 3. Camping at Apgar with ...

Yes indeed, which is very fitting considering the name of the lake!

Cracker Lake & Ptarmigan Tunnel

Finishing up a road trip in Canada, we came down on the east side of the park for a couple hikes. I have a "hiking bucket list" at my house on my wall and knocked 2 hikes off of it this weekend (Aug 3rd & 4th)! http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j288/limedes/_DSC0975.jpg It was a blast....

Re: Bike/Hike to Avalanche Lake

Very nice!!! I've never been up to Avalanche this early. I usually don't get up there until around Mothers Day. Looks like still a good bit of snow up there too. Did the snow slide any while you were there? pocketlint  We did hear the snow sliding a lot!! Pretty neat to hear the rumbling star...
