Re: Hockey Ref Update

I haven't been to this site for quite a while. I've been back to Glacier but I'm more a photog than a hard core hiker. I communicated several times with Hockey Ref on this site and found him giving, knowledgeable and helpful. I'm speechless. I just don't know what to say. This is a loss to the Glaci...

Re: Wild Goose Island (Oh no, not another picture of WGI zzz

Tsmith, Yes, I never change the time on my camera. I guess that's 2 hours earlier. I was actually a little late deciding to go over the WGI. It's only a couple of minutes drive. The next morning it was rather cloudy so I didn't bother going. Then I looked out my window and took this thru the window ...

Re: Triple Falls Update

There's a small chain fence and a sign indicating off limits. The next day I stopped there to take a picture of the fence and the sign and was told we can't go there. I told them I wasn't going but just wanted a picture of the sign and was permitted to go that far. The Logan Pass ranger told me you'...

Triple Falls Update

I just returned from Glacier with a short stop in Banff and Jasper. I was travelling with a friend. On August 10th we decided to try for Triple Falls. Thanks to toddnick for the instructions. The directions were right on but the distances were somewhat different. We turned left in the parking area a...

Re: Question about boat rides

In Many Glacier the 8:30AM boat ride is also the start of the Grinnell Glacier ranger=led hike, so it's a good idea to book ahead. That boat will most likely be full on many days.

Re: Recomendations for a Yellowstone Forum

The Tetons are beautiful. The mountains are on the west side so you get up early to get good early photos. Mormon Row Barns and Schwabacher Landing on the outside road. Oxbow Bend at the north end where the inside and outside roads meet. The views from a few spots up Signal Mtn Road., etc. There are...

Re: Recomendations for a Yellowstone Forum

Lamar Valley is east of Tower. Not west. Also, the Upper Geyser Basin is quite interesting. The most famous is Old Faithful. Only 5 geysers are predicted. Old Faithful (OF) is the easiest to see. They build the complex next to it and there's a nice viewing boardwalk. Also, it erupts more or less eve...
