Re: TV show to recreate 2005 mauling

I thought it was great when he said that he had to go back and hike it again to make sure that the view of the glacier wasn't just ehh. When he got there he knew it was worth what they had gone thru. Also that bear they showed was huge I'd jump off the ledge too.

Re: Bears......

After seeing a hiker(tourist) pour the Vienna sausage juice from his can right on the Grinnell Glacier trail I've always worried about what the hikers before me did on the trail. I had to bite my tongue off not to say anything to him.

Re: Bears......

I have seen bears on two different trips right across the street from the campground area but never heard of them causing any trouble. Did have a moose come thru the back of my campsite and scare the heck out of me, also had coyotes wake me up when they stopped in the swiftcurrent parking lot to do ...

Here's some more pictures of the chalet taken on June 15th. I'm not sure what you would do once you get there.

Hiking crampons

I felt kind of silly buying a pair seeing that I live in Florida but It sounds like a good year to have them. Is anybody else considering additional gear that they usually don't bring along?

Re: Many Glacier update June 9th

I don't understand why people are in such a rush while driving that road. I too almost hit grizzly cubs on the Many Glacier road but I was going slow and was able to stop. I think that road is one of the best places in any park to see all kinds of wildlife if they would slow down and look.

Re: 1st time to Glacier - Itinerary

If it was my trip I would plan something like this. Day 1-Iceberg Lake and the tunnel if you feel up to it. Day 2-Grinnell Glacier and you'll still have time to canoe or kayak on the lake. Day 3- Highline to Many Glacier with side trip to Grinnell Glacier overlook to see where you were the day befor...
